this is amazing…
“I don’t want people to like her anymore, almost, that sounds really, really bad.I want people to realize that actually she’s not the same anymore. You can’t root for her forever, because she’s not there to be your favorite character. That’s not what she’s there for. She’s real. People go down bad paths and they make bad decisions, but it’s always justified in their head. I want the audience to differentiate that and not just be like, ‘Oh, it’s Arya, we love her.’ Because actually look at what Arya’s doing. She’s being eaten away from the inside out, and she’s not stopping it.” - about Arya
I love how well both Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner understand their characters, and how clearly they express it.
I dunno, I think I do still root for Arya, just not for her to keep doing what she’s doing. I root for her to remember who she really is and the family she comes from and what they stood for, and to turn back towards that however hard it is. So one day she can be an adult who looks back with regret on some terrible things she did when she was young and lost and deeply hurt, but knows she’s got a lot better since then.
pacific rim: a summer blockbuster in which empathy is more important than physical brawn, in which defending the lives of innocent civilians is more important than a demonstration of military might, in which a woman of color is given a complex arc and backstory, and in which a scientist with a disability helps save the world.
Uuh… it’s hard to explain, it’s a burden that just appears out of nowhere and fucks you up for days. Ignoring it is not easy. It takes over you and even tends to distort your perception of reality turning it into a living nightmare. It’s awful and terrifying.
Every breath you take, every roll you make, I’ll be perched on you.
